YES - We are at it again, and Greg is coming with me! Gaia's Gifts will be closed for vacation. We are taking an actual "family" beach vacation, with nothing to do but relax, listen to the waves, play in the sand, soak up the sun and enjoy large family meals together (there will be 18 of us). Four generations gathering under the same roof!
We will re-open on Wednesday June 17.

Learn the folk art of rug hooking
Upcoming Dates:
Rug Hooking Meet-Up is paused for the summer. Working with wool in the heat and humidity is not ideal and many "hookers" pick up another craft until the weather turns cooler. I am more than happy to work with you one-on-one to get you started and I will resume dates in the fall.
Time: 12:00 - 2:00 pm-ish
Learn and create your own hooked rugs to use as wall art, chair pad, coaster or to actually put on the floor.
Rug Hooking is a Folk Art that dates back to when women wanted to make their homes comfortable but couldn't afford it, so, being resourceful, used what they had. Old burlap feed bags as the backing, worn out wool clothing and blankets for the "worms" and a bent nail put in a piece of wood for the hook. Basically, that is all you need but now we use linen, rug warp or similar material for the backing, wool is available on the bolt (but I still love to hunt the thrifts shops to up-cycle wool clothing), and a variety of hooks are available for purchase. Oh, and I forgot a frame to hold your project while creating it. Beginners can use a quilting hoop until they decide they are "hooked" and buy a hooking frame. That is for later. A nice sharp little pair of scissors for snipping and you are ready to go.
Each month, we gather together and work on our projects together, encouraging each other, trouble shooting, color planning, making a rug from beginning to end. Some projects will take 2-3 months to learn all the steps to finish but you will have fun in-between hooking your design.
Of course, I am available during shop hours to work one-on-one with yo and to get more wool "worms" to keep hooking.

The first hour is show-and-tell, show off what you are working on or finished piece.
The second hour is "hooking", let's get to it!
You are welcome to stay another hour, once you get going, it is hard to stop.

Year Ahead Spread
I have been giving myself the year ahead spread as guidance for many years. This type of spread helps you understand the insights of what's to come, will it be an emotionally charged year (many cups) or is it a big life transition year (lots of major arcana cards). Sometimes, it just doesn't make sense but when you look back upon the month and see the cards involved, the ah-ha moment hits. This spread has shown me to believe in my "creative" years and has helped me to trust and believe in the guidance that is always around. This is a great spread to keep on hand where you can look at it at the beginning of each month. This spread takes about 1-1/2 hours, is a lot of fun to dive into and is a great reference for the upcoming year. Can be done from birthday to birthday too. $75.00

Tarot Readings by Ellen. I am a student of B.O.T.A. and consider myself an intuitive reader of tarot. I will look at the snapshot of where you are right now, and the message the Universe needs you to focus on. As humans, we want to be distracted by learning about work, or friends or love. My tarot wants you to look deeper inside yourself to heal, transform and grow. $50.00 by appointment.
